Science:
Science represents a way of life: a clear thinking approach to gathering
information and problem solving. The Montessori approach to science cultivates
children's fascination with the universe and helps them develop a lifelong
interest in observing nature and discovering more about the world in which we
live.

The Botany Cabinet This is used to identify, name, and label the parts of plants, trees, leaves, roots, and flowers. Activities utilizing the botany cabinet allow the child to be introduced to concepts in botanical classification while the child learns the names and shapes of leaves by tracing their borders and matching them to those in the natural environment. Children will also use botany cards to learn about the whole plant and subsequently identify each of the parts by highlighting them in color. |
